Retail Exit Notification

The water retail market for non-household customers has been open to competition since 1st April 2017, allowing non-household customers to choose the company that provides them with a retail service.

Retail services cover activities such as meter reading, customer contact, billing and collection, and are undertaken by licensed water retailers. Appointed water companies will continue to provide the wholesale services of clean water supply and wastewater collection and treatment.

Severn Trent Connect exited the retail market for sewerage services in 2017, since then we have been granted a water supply licence by Ofwat and are looking to align our retail services by exiting from the water retail market.

We applied to DEFRA on the 8th January to formerly exit from the water retail market, and if successful, our withdrawal will take effect from the 1st March 2019.

Water Plus will become the default retailer for our area of appointment in Basingstoke. We don’t have any eligible non-household customers, if this changes prior to retail exit, we will contact any affected customers to inform them of the changes, support them through the migration to Water Plus’s systems and comply with the Retail Exit Regulation customer communication requirements.
